Time Is Not Passing — We Are

Time Is Not Passing — We Are

Time is timeless. No matter who we are or what we do, we are simply flowing in a unidirectional stream. We rarely stop to think that it is not time which is passing — it is us.

Billions have passed away believing they were important enough for this flow to care, but in truth, no one matters. There was a time when you were not born, and there will be a time when you will not be here. The span between these two infinities is what we call life.

No one knows where we were before birth, or where we will go once we reach the unshakable reality of death.

The Fear of the Unknown

Every day, in one way or another, I face this thought. And every time, I feel a certain fear — a fear born from not knowing. I search for answers, for something that might offer a fragment of solace, but nothing truly soothes the heart.

The stories we tell ourselves about life and death often feel like myths — crafted not from truth, but from the need to protect ourselves from the unbearable fact that we simply do not know. We are creatures clever enough to fool ourselves, preferring the comfort of illusions to the confrontation of reality.

No matter how much drama we create to distract ourselves, the deep void within us still stares back — silent, unblinking, unfilled. We try to plug this hole with possessions, relationships, and dreams of a perfect future. But nothing works. No one can help.

The One Who Watches

One path is to ignore this feeling — to distract ourselves with the noise of the outer world. But deep down, we know this doesn’t work.

  • We can fool others.
  • We can fool our own minds.
  • But we cannot fool the one looking from within.

In its presence, all our tricks and lies stand naked. We rarely stop to ask: If we are not our names, our identities, our possessions — then who are we? Who is looking from within? Are we even aware of that presence? And the most important question: Are “we” and “it” truly separate?

Between Two Infinities

Why waste this tiny blip of consciousness — this brief spark between two endless voids? Why hide from the problem of emptiness when we could face it head-on, like a brave warrior?

Are we so afraid of ourselves that we spend a lifetime running?

We have no idea when our time will be up. Wouldn’t it be the adventure of a lifetime to turn inward — to discover who we really are? To put down our gadgets, quiet the noise, and look for the natural intelligence within, instead of obsessing over artificial ones?

Just think over it.
